Who they are
Tony Kozycki
Naval Aviator and immigration attorney, by his own account.3 His site points to no elected office. Several issue sections name McCormick and cite his votes; they were scored only on what Kozycki says he would do. Statistics about the problem (Pew, GAO, KFF, Tax Policy Center) were not counted as targets. The site also has Home pages in six other languages, which weren't scored separately.2
Rich McCormick
Calls himself "the U.S. Representative for Georgia's 7th District"5 and says his results came "since taking office".4 His site has no separate issues page. The eight Priorities headings on the Home page were scored, one heading per issue; his About, Journey and Not a Career Politician sections are biography and were not scored. Each Priorities block ends with a one-line action summary, and those lines were read with their block.

Where they agree

  • Both say leaders should be judged on results. McCormick: "Rich believes public service should be measured by results, not speeches, slogans, or press releases."4 Kozycki: "Talk is cheap. Results are what matter."2
  • Both back strong alliances. McCormick: "Rich supports America's servicemembers, our strongest allies"4 Kozycki: "America is stronger when we stand with our allies"2
  • Both want better access to care for veterans. McCormick "has led TRICARE and VA community-care reimbursement bills focused on real access to care"4 Kozycki: "No veteran should wait months for basic care because the system is outdated or understaffed."2

Where they really split

  • Health care: McCormick wants "a healthcare system that connects patients to doctors, lowers costs, increases transparency, and cuts the bureaucracy standing between families and treatment"4 Kozycki: "Tony will fight to restore and make permanent the premium tax credits that kept coverage affordable for millions of Americans."2
  • Border: McCormick "supports real border security, accountability after repeated federal failures, and policies that protect communities and restore control at the southern border"4 Kozycki: "Tony opposed the wall because it was political theater, not a real answer to a complicated problem."2
  • Costs: McCormick: "Cut inflationary spending, lower taxes, unleash American energy"4 Kozycki: "Tony supports making childcare expenses fully tax-deductible up to the real cost of care"2

What each one leaves out

  • McCormick's Home page Priorities section has eight headings. It names a bill he introduced on six, but says only what each bill is for, never how it works, and gives no cost or date for any. His Make Washington Work and election headings name no bill.4
  • Kozycki's Issues page has ten sections. It names a policy on six and says how on none, with no cost or date for any. National security, veterans and bipartisanship are goals, and his site points to no earlier office or votes.2, 3
